STORY
The world’s first automatic bill counting machines (or banknote counting machines) were introduced by Federal Bill Counter Company was installed in Federal Reserve Bank Washington, D.C. in 1920. These machines were designed to increase efficiency in tellers and reduce human error. Before the first banknote counter invented, bank tellers counted money the same way you do when you look in your wallet -- one bill at a time. Tellers made sure that packages held exactly 100 notes of the same denomination, judged authenticity by sight and feel. Currency counting changed little during the '30s. Federal Bill Counters were still used. Sorting was done manually and by District, so that unfit currency was returned to the Federal Reserve District in which it had been issued. Counterfeit bills were sent directly to the Secret Service for investigation.

In 1957, the first marketed vacuum counting machines was lunched by De La Rue in UK. It capable of counting loose banknote & strap 100pcs banknote (called straps because they are secured with straps) were visually inspected and weighed against a counterweight equal to the paper mass of 100 genuine notes. In 1967, the first Automated teller machine (ATM) invent by De La Rue, which was installed by Barclays Bank in Enfield Town in North London, United Kingdom.

Today ATMs are placed not only near or inside the premises of banks, but also in locations such as shopping centers/malls, airports, grocery stores, petrol/gas stations, restaurants, or any place large numbers of people may gather. There are over 1.5 million ATMs in use (2006), it convenient human modern life in worldwide. But the volume of ATMs too huge & high crime rate it has become too dangerous for bank people to maintain ATMs by themselves. They rescue help from Armoured Cash Security Co.
